Movie Trailer Roundup - Margot Robbie, Robert Downey Jr., And Finally The New Mutants!
(Full Blog) This looks better than the original trailer, which I did not like at all. This is a lot more like what I was expecting: Creepy, colorful, and very stylized. Im automatically in on anything Margot Robbie is in, and the supporting cast of Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo), Ewan McGregor (Star Wars), Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe) and Rosie Perez (White Men Can't Jump) is dynamite. Director Cathy Yan made some great projects in both 'According to My Mother' and 'Dead Pigs', but this is obviously a whole different challenge. Christina Hodson is on the script for this (Bumblebee).
2. Dolittle (Trailer #2)
There is quite literally nothing new from the first trailer so I'll reiterate. RDJ whips ass as a brit (The Sherlock movies are delightful) and the supporting crew of Selena Gomez, Tom Holland, Rami Malek, John Cena and Emma Thompson are mostly all-stars. Director Stephen Gaghan made ‘Syriana’ and ‘Gold’, both of which were slightly above average which is promising as well. The bad is that the CGI does NOT look great. Couple that with the studios decision for a January release makes me think this is destined for failure. This also looks like its taking on way more of a fantasy adventure vibe as opposed to the goofy vibe from the Eddie Murphy version I’m assuming most of you are familiar with. We’ll see if it pays off.
3. The New Mutants
(Full Blog) I'm fucking sick of talking about New Mutants. SICK OF IT. Read the damn blog.
4. The Boy 2
This looks like ass, Scoob! The original movie wasn't good, scoring a whopping 30% critic score and 38% audience score on rotten. However, it did gross nearly $70 million against a $10 million dollar budget. That's show business, baby! This stars Katie Holmes (Batman Begins), Owain Yeoman (The Belko Experiment), Ralph Ineson (Chernobyl) and Christopher Convery (Stranger Things). Director William Brent Bell as well as screenwriter Stacey Menear.
